The Presidential $1 Coins
America began honoring our Nation’s Presidents by issuing $1 coins in 2007. The coins are made of copper with manganese brass cladding and feature images of the Presidents were released in the order that they served. Presidents Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Madison were the first.

- Warren G. Harding: 29th President (1921 – 1923). Harding won the presidency in 1920. He was responsible for establishing the Bureau of Veterans Affairs. He was outspoken about civil rights. Later, he would be considered one of the worst U.S. Presidents because of the scandals his appointees were involved in during his term. Two years into his serving office, he died of a heart attack.

- Calvin Coolidge: 30th President (1923 – 1929). In 1923, he became President due to President Warren G. Harding’s death. Coolidge’s presidency is most known for its economic prosperity. He was President during the “Roaring Twenties.” He did not seek re-election in 1928 and died in 1933.

- Herbert Hoover: 31st President (1929 – 1933). Once Hoover became President in 1928, the Great Depression happened, for which he was blamed. In the election of 1932, he was defeated by challenger Franklin D. Roosevelt.
- Franklin D. Roosevelt: 32nd President (1933 – 1945). Considered one of our nation’s most important and successful chief executives, Roosevelt held office during both the Great Depression and World War II. He was reelected and served three full terms.

The Presidential $1 Coin Design
The Presidential $1 Coins have large, dramatic artwork showing each president’s face and on the other side a really cool image of the Statue of Liberty. Each coin also has an inscription of the minting year, or issuance, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark. The inscription IN GOD WE TRUST appears on the coin’s face.
