Chinese herdsman stumbles on a 17-pound gold nugget

CattleTalk about a rare find! Just imagine – you’re out minding your business one day when all of a sudden appears a big, shiny rock. Except in the case of Chinese herdsman Berek Sawut, it turns out the shiny rock is a 17-pound nugget (7.85 kg) of GOLD!!!

Discussing his find with the Chinese-news agency Xinhua, Sawut explains he found the nugget “practically lying on the bare ground.”

At current prices, the nugget is worth around $255k dollars.

Perhaps it’s a coincidence, but another large, random gold discovery was made on the same day (Feb. 5) back in 1869. Found in Australia, the “Welcome Stranger” was a massive 109 kg nugget that needed to be broken in 3 pieces in order to be weighed.
