Highly-Anticipated 2016 Centennial Mercury Dime Sells Out in 40 Minutes

The Centennial Gold Coin series was announced late last year, giving collectors something to look forward to in 2016. The first in that series—the 2016 Centennial Mercury Dime—was available for a short time on April 21st before it quickly became unavailable on the U.S. Mint’s website.

The coin had a mintage limit of 125,000 and a limited household purchase of only 10 coins. It’s .9999 24 kt. gold composition, plus its historical significance, made it a highly desirable coin. The other two coins in the series will also have the same high-quality gold standard, but the release dates for those coins have not yet been published.

The 2016 Centennial Gold Coin series includes the following coins:

  • 2016 Centennial Mercury Dime 1/10th gold coin
  • 2016 Centennial Standing Liberty Quarter 1/4th gold coin
  • 2016 Centennial Walking Liberty Half-Dollar 1/2 oz. gold coin

Stay up-to-date on the U.S. Mint’s release dates so you can get a piece of history. For coins similar to the Centennial Series, check out the Standing Liberty Silver Round or the Walking Liberty Silver Round.
